Itinerary:
Week 1: Orientation & Research Proposal Development
Begin in Nairobi with an orientation covering ethical research practices in Kenya. Collaborate with local institutions and mentors to refine your research proposal and methodology. Visit the Kenya National Archives and research libraries to access historical and academic resources.

Week 2-5: Field Research in Key Locations

  • Anthropology: Conduct interviews and observations in traditional Maasai, Samburu, or Luo communities. Explore cultural practices and their evolution in modern Kenya.
  • Wildlife Conservation: Study animal behavior and conservation efforts in parks like Tsavo, Maasai Mara, or Lake Nakuru.
  • Public Health: Collaborate with local clinics to study healthcare access, maternal health, or disease prevention in rural areas.
  • Climate Change: Analyze environmental data on Kenya’s ecosystems and work with local conservationists to understand the impact of climate change on livelihoods.

Weekly check-ins with your mentor ensure alignment and guidance throughout the research process.

Week 6: Analysis and Reporting
Spend the final week back in Nairobi or a regional research hub to analyze your findings and draft your report or academic paper. Present your work to the host institution or community stakeholders.
